Feelin' High aimed to denaturalize the objects of our everyday. We live in a world of rapid technological advancement that once-marvel innovations are now taken for granted and often underappreciated. This project hoped to restore the awe and wonder of the technological feat behind the objects of our everyday.
We chose to denaturalize the elevator ride experience by mapping the soundscapes of Earth and Space to the movement of the elevator. As the elevator moved from Level 1 to 6, participants also traveled through different soundscapes - from being submerged underwater, to rising above the Earth’s surface, to reaching atmospheric heights and finally, breaking into the silence of space.
Equipment/material used: Arduino, soundscapes of Earth and Space
Performed at the MIT Media Lab, Cambridge, MA.
